Cooper Tire, union in pact at Findlay plant

12/4/2008

FINDLAY Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., the second-largest U.S. tire maker, said yesterday it reached a tentative contract with unionized employees at its Findlay plant.

The agreement with United Steelworkers Local 207L was made as the company studies which of its four North American plants should be shut. That examination is to be finished by February.

The new contract, which would follow one that expired Oct. 31, would last three years. The plant manager, Jack Hamilton, said in a statement that the new contract terms will position the Findlay plant in a competitive manner.
