BOWLING GREEN The former principal of Perrysburg Junior High School has been indicted by a Wood County grand jury on one count of theft in office.

Patrick Calvin, 44, of Perrysburg is accused in the indictment of using his office as junior high principal to steal between $500 and $5,000 from the school district. A previous charge filed in Perrysburg Municipal Court set that amount at $2,197.86.

Mr. Calvin is to be arraigned Dec. 12 before Wood County Common Pleas Judge Alan Mayberry. He was suspended without pay or benefits by the school board, which had begun proceedings to terminate him. That process was put on hold when Mr. Calvin filed an appeal with the Ohio Department of Education.

Theft in office, a fourth-degree felony, is punishable by up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
