Michigan man critically injured when struck by vehicle

MONROE - A Newport, Mich., man was critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning while walking down War Road, south of Newport Road, in Monroe County’s Frenchtown Township, authorities said.

Phillip Rodgers, 23, is listed in critical condition at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Mr. Rodgers was walking down the center of War Road about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Jason A. Anderson, 30, of Newport, Mich.

Mr. Anderson was treated at Mercy Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, authorities said.
