Two women died and two others were injured Wednesday night in a fire at a single-story house at 2523 North Centennial Rd., near West Bancroft Street, in Sylvania Township, authorities said. The home was destroyed.

The names of the two victims and the conditions of the injured were not available, but authorities said they were related. A medical helicopter and several life squads were dispatched to the scene.

At 10:15 p.m., emergency personnel requested a coroner's investigator to report to the scene.

A woman was taken to St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, and a man to Toledo Hospital for treatment, authorities said.

The cause of the fire, reported about 9:15 p.m., was unknown, but it was believed to have started in a rear bedroom, officials said.
