Accreditation assessors to support Toledo police

12/11/2008

Assessors who have been examining the Toledo Police Department s policies and procedures said Wednesday they will recommend unanimously that the department be reaccredited, Chief Mike Navarre said.

Three veteran law enforcement officers from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. examined the department s polices and procedures, management, operations, and support services. They arrived in Toledo Saturday and left Wednesday.

The department was first accredited in 2003 and again in 2006.

The commission will determine in March whether the Toledo police will receive reaccreditation.

Accreditation is for three years, during which time the department must submit annual reports attesting to compliance with the standards.
