A 50-year-old man accused of robbing a Charter One Bank branch Monday was being held last night in the Lucas County jail without bond, authorities said.

Gerald Chasteen of 307 Sumner St. was charged with robbery and is scheduled to appear Thursday in Toledo Municipal Court. He was arrested about 10:15 a.m. yesterday in the 600 block of Nevada Street.

Toledo police served a search warrant at a separate location, where evidence of the robbery was found, a report said.

A man entered the bank at 602 Main St. about 10:30 a.m. Monday, approached a teller, and demanded money. After he was given the cash, the suspect ran behind the bank, where a dye pack exploded, police said.
