Board plans to OK raises for Wood County employees

12/18/2008

BOWLING GREEN Wood County commissioners are expected to approve 2 percent pay raises for county employees when the board meets Thursday.

Commissioner Jim Carter said that while the raises are not as much as in past years, no employees are being laid off and the county has not been forced to make any drastic cuts.

The board plans to adopt its temporary appropriations for 2009 when it meets at 10 a.m.

While interest income has declined, the county s sales tax receipts have held steady, Mr. Carter said, putting Wood County in a better position than many of its neighbors.
