Salvation Army $75,000 behind fund-raising goal

The Kids Saving Christmas fund-raising effort has halved the deficit facing this year s Salvation Army and Marine Corps Toys for Tots holiday campaign, but it remains $75,000 behind with only days to go before Christmas, Mayor Carty Finkbeiner said Friday.

A flurry of donations this month by area corporations, schools, churches, and individuals helped to close the earlier $150,000 deficit.

The mayor called on the public to consider making donations through the Salvation Army s red buckets, the donation tent at Saturday s University of Toledo basketball game, or by a check to the United Way with Kids Saving Christmas on the notation line.
