About 4,000 Toledo Edison customers remained without power Sunday morning as crews battled bitter cold and high winds to repair lines.

Gary Keys, area manager for the power company, said that wind and icing on the lines and tree limbs has caused power outages for several thousand customers. The areas that remained without power as of 11 a.m. Sunday include Defiance and Wauseon in the western portions of the county and Lindsey in Sandusky County.

Sheriff departments in Henry, Ottawa, Defiance, and Williams, counties reported large outages early Sunday. Maumee residents, who were without power for portions of the morning, were all back on line by noon, Edison representatives said.

Other areas reported scattered outages.

Crews worked throughout the morning to restore power as the winds continued to blow. Although Mr. Keys could not say when power would be restored to the impacted areas, he said that crews would "work through the night" to ensure that residents had power by Monday.
