NASA program Tuesday to give virtual, 3-D tours

12/25/2008

A free program Tuesday at the visitor center of NASA s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland will allow participants a glimpse at space through special 3-D glasses and at computer models that space agency scientists routinely use.

Visitors will be shown how engineers design new spacecraft, go on virtual tours of rocket test facilities, see the crowded patterns of satellites and debris orbiting Earth, and observe the behavior of gases in jet engines.

The presentation by Jay Horowitz, manager of the research center s Graphics Visualization Lab, will be at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m.

Crafts and activities will be available for children, and several galleries will be open before and after the presentation.

Reservations through the Glenn Research Center at 216-433-9653 are suggested. Adults must present photo ID.
