LIMA, Ohio Rhodes State College is offering a new program for people interested in working with those who suffer from sleep apnea.
The certificate program is for health professionals who want to work in a sleep laboratory.
The program, which is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, includes a seven-credit course in sleep studies and a six-month internship.
Participants can then take an exam to become a registered polysomnographic technologist.
The college cites statistics that about 4 percent of women and 9 percent of men have significant obstructive sleep apnea, which can lead to high blood pressure and stroke.
