CLYDE, Ohio The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has created a Web site to keep the public informed about the investigation into a large number of childhood cancer cases in the Clyde area.

The Web page, www.epa.state.oh.us/pic/clyde.html, was developed to provide residents with easy access to the ongoing investigation and includes an overview of the situation, resources, and related documents.

The Ohio EPA was contacted in 2007 by the Sandusky County Health Department about a study it did with the Ohio Department of Health regarding childhood cancer in the area.

Twelve cases have been reported of children diagnosed with various forms of cancer in Clyde and Green Creek Township since 2001.

The health departments are working with families to determine if any of the cancers have similarities in terms of exposure or origin. At this time, no environmental similarities have been found.
