Judge gives Toledo man 10 years for sex assaults

1/6/2009

A Lucas County Common Pleas Court judge labeled Donald Glover a "predator" before sentencing him yesterday to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting two teenage girls.

Glover, 56, of 130 Ester St., was sentenced to one year in prison for each of two counts of gross sexual imposition and four years in prison for each of two counts of sexual battery. Judge Gene Zmuda ordered that the sentences be served consecutively.

Glover pleaded guilty to the charges Oct. 17, saying that he fondled the girls, who were 14 at the time, and committed an indecent act involving one of them in exchange for allowing them access to a computer. The incidents occurred between July 1, 2007, and March 25.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed two counts of rape.

One of the victims told Judge Zmuda that Glover's actions hurt her family.

Glover said he was sorry for his actions and would try to "rectify this in any way I can to myself and my family."

He was classified as a sex offender and after being released from prison will be required to register with the sheriff every 90 days for the rest of his life.
