BOWLING GREEN Former Wood County Clerk of Courts Becky Bhaer was back at work yesterday getting sworn in as a deputy clerk under newly elected Clerk Cindy Hofner.

Ms. Bhaer, who did not run for re-election in November, said she would be working in the clerk s office through March 31, helping with Ms. Hofner s transition in the title office. She stressed that she won t be double-dipping.

I am not getting retirement. I have not even turned in my retirement paperwork, Ms. Bhaer said. I never once said I was retiring. I just said I wasn t running.

Ms. Hofner said her former boss was the clear choice to help her learn the title side of the office. She s got a wealth of information, Ms. Hofner said. The clerks association has been trying to get a title fee modification increase, and she s been very active with that.

Deputy clerks were sworn in yesterday morning, shortly before Judge Alan Mayberry swore in the new county prosecutor, Paul Dobson, in the courthouse atrium. Mr. Dobson first worked for Wood County as an assistant prosecutor when Mr. Mayberry was the prosecutor.
