County outreach worker accused of drugs in court

A Toledo man employed by the Victim Assistance Spanish Outreach program of the Lucas County Prosecutor s Office was cited yesterday for trying to take marijuana into the courthouse.

Roberto Gonzales, 61, of 880 Wright St. was charged with drug abuse, a minor misdemeanor. He will be summoned to Toledo Municipal Court.

According to the citation, Mr. Gonzales was caught trying to take in a small bag of marijuana and rolling papers. The contraband was discovered by court deputies after keys in his pocket set off metal detectors twice.

Mr. Gonzales claimed he found the items outside the courthouse before entering, the citation said. His employment with the program is under review, the prosecutor s office said.
