NW Ohio, SE Michigan under storm warning until Saturday evening

  • Heavy snow is forecast for northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.

    The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a winter storm warning, upgraded from a watch, until 7 p.m. Saturday for Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, Sandusky, Erie, Hancock, and Seneca counties.

    Meteorologists predict 6 to 10 inches of snow is possible from Friday night into Saturday.

    A winter storm warning also is in effect for Lenawee and Monroe counties in Michigan until 4 p.m. Saturday. One to two inches of snow is expected Friday evening with an additional three to five inches overnight into Saturday.


    Soon after the snow began early Friday afternoon, Toledo police reported several accidents on area roadways. There were no serious injuries reported.


    At least two cars were involved in an accident on I-475 near the U.S. 23 split. One person was transported to Toledo Hospital, according to the Lucas County EMS.

    Two cars slid into each other on I-75 near the Detroit Avenue exit about 1:20 p.m. No injuries were reported.

    Sylvania Township police said one car slid off the road shortly before 1:30 p.m. on McCord Road and Central Avenue. There were no injuries.

    At 2:30 p.m Toledo was under a Level 1 snow emergency, which means police responded to only injury accidents.
