Firefighters are at the scene of a fire on Roff Street, near Tunnel Street in central Toledo, authorities said.

Crews were called to 124 Roff on report of heavy smoke coming from the structure. The homeowner escaped safely, authorities said.

Firefighters were fighting the fire defensively after they learned there were oxygen tanks inside the house, authorities said.

The house, built in 1897, is owned by Margaret Townes, according to the Lucas County Auditor's Web site.
