Maintenance on the Martin Luther King, Jr., Bridge will require short-term lane closings for eight days, starting Tuesday, city officials announced.
Starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, the eastbound right lane will be closed until Thursday evening. Then the westbound right lane will be closed at 9 a.m. Friday until the evening of Jan. 27.
Maintenance will include adding ball bearings to a part of the lift mechanism that has vibrated excessively during bridge openings and closings, said David Welch, the city commissioner of streets, bridges, and harbor.
