Ex-Toledoan lauded for exemplary service

SAN ANTONIO Air Force Lt. Col. Brian E. King, a graduate of Whitmer High School and the University of Toledo, has been decorated with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Colonel King received the medal for exceptionally meritorious service while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as deputy senior mentor, Afghan National Police, Officer of the Command Surgeon, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.

The son of Betty H. King of Toledo, Colonel King graduated in 1979 from Whitmer High School and received a bachelor s degree in 1984 and earned a master s degree in 1988 from the University of Toledo.

The Air Force said the medal is awarded to individuals for noncombat meritorious achievement or service that is incontestably exceptional and of a magnitude that clearly places them above their peers.
