A teenager accused of robbing a Taco Bell restaurant with a sawed-off shotgun was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury Monday after being certified to stand trial as an adult.

Eric Briggs, 17, of 717 North Erie St., was charged with aggravated robbery with a firearm specification. If convicted, he faces up to 13 years in prison.

Police said the youth entered the restaurant at 702 Front St. about 6:15 p.m. and demanded money.

He fled with cash and was sighted on the Martin Luther King Bridge by officers, who arrested him in the parking lot of WTOL Channel 11 after a short pursuit, police said. Officers recovered a shotgun and cash.

The suspect remains in the Lucas County jail.
