MONROE Former Monroe High School teacher Kelly Abdo entered into a plea

agreement Wednesday for an incident last year when two teenagers saw her

having sex with an 18-year-old student in a parked car.

Ms. Abdo, 27, pleaded no contest to one count of indecent exposure in Monroe

County District Court. Judge Terrence Bronson found her guilty of the

misdemeanor offense and scheduled sentencing for March 25.

As part of the plea agreement made with prosecutors, Ms. Abdo surrendered

her teaching certificate and resigned from the school district, forgoing the

appeals process to regain her job. She will not be able to seek

employment as a teacher in Michigan or outside the state for two years while

she is on probation, prosecutors said.

The conviction stems from an incident on May 17 outside a house party on

Riverview Avenue. Two high school boys who attended the gathering told

sheriff investigators they saw the former teacher and the 18-year-old

student having intercourse in the teenager's parked car on the public

roadway.

Ms. Abdo, of Luna Pier, could be sentenced to one year in jail and fined

$1,000.
