The principal of a Fremont elementary school is facing charges that he

stole prescription drugs meant for his students.

Timothy Wilhelm, 43, the principal of Stamm Elementary School, was released from the Sandusky County Jail on Friday evening after being arrested a day earlier for stealing medication.

Fremont Police said they have taken three reports about stolen drugs from the school since September, 2008. On two occasions, police said the school was made to look like thieves had broken into the building.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Ottawa County Drug Task Force, as well as the school district, assisted on the investigation, and more charges are pending, Fremont police said.
