Police charge woman, 25, in slaying of elderly Austin Street resident

Police have charged a suspect with murder, aggravated burglary, and aggravated robbery suspect in connection with the robbery and death of Cecelia Sobecki, 83, of 567 Austin St.

Mandi Abdo, 25, was booked into the Lucas County jail. She was arrested Friday evening after going to the Safety Building to talk with detectives.

Ms. Sobecki was robbed on Feb. 6 by a woman who pushed her to the floor twice when she refused to hand over money.

She died Feb. 8 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Her death was ruled a homicide.
