Sentencing delayed for ex-corrections officer

2/24/2009

U.S. District Judge Jack Zouhary postponed Monday s scheduled sentencing of Seth Bunke, a former Lucas County corrections officer convicted in October on three counts of violating civil rights.

The judge said he held off because the government failed to respond to a recent brief filed by Bunke s defense team.

He said Bunke is to be sentenced March 9, the day he sentences a pair of men who pleaded guilty in November to misdemeanor charges of witness tampering in a case that involved Bunke.

Bunke faces up to 12 years in prison for assaulting jail inmates and portraying himself as a police officer.
