Sandusky County assistant prosecutor named judge

COLUMBUS Gov. Ted Strickland announced yesterday the appointment of John P. Kolesar, 43, a Sandusky County assistant prosecutor, as a judge of Sandusky County Court.

Mr. Kolesar of Fremont takes the bench March 23.

He succeeds Judge John P. Dewey, who was elected in November to the Sandusky County Common Pleas Court bench, replacing Common Pleas Judge Harry Sargeant, who retired.

Mr. Kolesar has been assistant prosecutor since 2001. From 1999-01, he was a Seneca County assistant prosecutor. He was an assistant public defender in the Seneca County public defender s office from 1997-99.

He is on the boards of the Sandusky County Council for Persons with Mental Retardation and the Sandusky River Chapter of the American Red Cross.
