Two Toledo men and a woman were charged after a dogfight over the weekend.

Police were called to Chase Elementary, 3315 Mayo St., about 5:45 p.m. Saturday about a group of people getting ready to fight, a Toledo police report said.

When officers arrived, about 50 people were watching two dogs, described as pit bulls, fighting. They scattered.

Goldy Thompson, 32, and Gordon Hood, 26, who allegedly were holding leashes of the dogs, were charged with dogfighting, violating limitations on vicious dogs, and failure to keep liability insurance for a vicious dog. Krystle Hernandez, 25, who said she owns one of the dogs, was charged with violating limitations on vicious dogs and failure to keep insurance for a vicious dog.

Mr. Thompson also was charged with drug abuse for having what was suspected to be marijuana in his pocket; he is being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. Mr. Hood, who also was charged with obstructing official business, was released Monday after posting $5,000 bond.

Mr. Thompson was acquitted in July, 2008, of complicity to aggravated murder in the 2006 slayings of three men in North Toledo.
