PEMBERVILLE - Two people were hurt, one seriously, when an SUV and a car collided yesterday on a Wood County road northwest of Pemberville, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Shannon Nabors, 39, of Pemberville, the car driver, was flown to Toledo Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Ms. Nabors is chief of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's northwest district office in Bowling Green.

Andrew Davidson, 18, of Toledo, driver of the SUV, was driven to St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon, where he was released after treatment, a hospital spokesman said.

The crash occurred about 7:55 a.m. near Lemoyne Road on Sugar Ridge Road, which separates Troy and Freedom townships. Mr. Davidson, who was driving east, crossed the center line and drove into the path of the Nabors car, which was westbound, troopers at the patrol's Bowling Green post said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts; air bags deployed in both the car and the SUV. The head-on collision pushed the vehicles into a ditch on the north side of Sugar Ridge, the patrol said.

Mr. Davidson was cited for driving left of center, troopers said.
