Mayoral candidate Wilkowksi calls on city, union to continue talks
4/28/2009Mr. Wilkowski, an attorney and former county commissioner, pointed to the pending layoffs of 150 Toledo police officers scheduled for this Friday.
He said in light of the planned layoffs, it was unacceptable to put off talks any longer.
The candidate also is sending a letter to the mayor and union president Dan Wagner asking them to consider calling on retired Ohio Supreme Court Justice Andy Douglas to help mediate the contract talks. Mr. Douglas, 76, left his post recently as head of the largest union representing state employees.
Mr. Wilkowski created the letter on personal stationary and not campaign letterhead.
