A Toledo man was sentenced in Lucas County Common Pleas Court Wednesday to 15 years in prison for the July 8 shooting death near the St. Thomas Aquinas Festival. He also was sentenced for his role in the July 5 of two men in an unrelated incident near a central city bar.

Eusebio Martinez, 20, of 414 Courtland, pleaded guilty March 30 to one count of voluntary manslaughter with a gun specification in the death of Kenneth Kimble, 19. He also entered an Alford plea to two counts of felonious assault with gun specifications for the shooting of Mario Madrid and Frederick Sheares outside the Ninja Club, 1102 Broadway, a week before Mr. Kimble s killing.

The negotiated sentence was agreed upon before Martinez entered his plea. Judge Charles Doneghy said he understood that it may seem to the victims and their families like too little time behind bars but that he would honor the agreement.

Assistant Prosecutor Tim Braun said a deal was reached to help solve the case of Mr. Kimble s shooting death that had remained cold for months.
