SANDUSKY A one-time Tiffin man has been charged with aggravated murder and gross abuse of a corpse in the death of a woman whose severely burned body was found in a state wildlife area northwest of Castalia, Ohio.

Timothy K. Tyree, 50, was arrested Wednesday in the woman s van alongside a road in Letcher County, Kentucky. He is in jail there pending extradition to Ohio, said Capt. Paul Sigsworth of the Erie County Sheriff s Office.

He was indicted by an Erie County grand jury on charges of aggravated murder, murder, gross abuse of a corpse, aggravated robbery, aggravated arson, receiving stolen property, and tampering with evidence, Captain Sigsworth said.

Authorities identified the woman as Charlotte N. Evans, 32, whose last known addresses were in Bluffton and Carey, Ohio. Her remains were found Monday in Resthaven Wildlife Area in Erie County s Margaretta Township after authorities responded to a report of a burning human body.

Tyree and Ms. Evans were believed to be living out of her van the last several months, Captain Sigsworth said.
