Case dropped for one in incident at club

The case against one of nine men who were charged with assaulting two undercover police detectives in January was dismissed in Lucas County Common Pleas Court Monday.

The felony charges against Aaron Frankhouse, 19, of Temperance, were dropped for evidentiary reasons.

Charges remain against Gustave Leroy, 24, of Kalamazoo, Bryan Pearsall, 36, of Monroe, Nicholas Abalos, 20, of Temperance, Andres Abalos, 20, of Erie, Mich., David Abalos, 24, of Temperance, Mark Stroud, 19, of Temperance, Arturo Martinez, 23, of 2170 Canton Ave., Toledo, and Raymond Stroud, 17, of Lambertville.

The men were arrested Jan. 25 after a 1:40 a.m. incident in the parking lot of Scarlett s in the 5700 block of Telegraph Road. According to police, the men assaulted the detectives including attempting to take one officer s gun and badge even after the detectives identified themselves as police.

Each defendant is charged with three counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of felonious assault as well as alternate charges of two counts each of robbery and assault.

If convicted, the men face up to 50 years in prison.

Judge Denise Ann Dartt set an Aug. 10 trial date.
