A local physician, whose medical license was suspended in 2001 for drug dependency, is under investigation for prescribing highly addictive drugs such as OxyContin to patients "for no legitimate medical purpose," according to federal court documents.

Members of the Toledo Police department and the Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a search warrant Thursday at the Michigan Street office of Dr. Darrell Hall.

According to 35-page affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Toledo, the search was a result of a lengthy investigation of Dr. Hall s medical practice, including the prescribing of drugs. As part of the investigation, law enforcement and informants would pose as patients and from April, 2007, through September, 2008, the DEA and Toledo Police department conducted undercover visits to Dr. Hall s office.

As of yesterday, no charges had been filed against the doctor or his staff.
