Sylvania seeks input on Harroun Park plan

5/20/2009

Plans for improvements to Sylvania's Harroun Park will be the subject of a public meeting tonight.

Jim Speck, a city consultant, will present a "preferred alternative" for the park, developed in part from recommendations made during previous public meetings.

Testimony from the meeting will be considered in developing a final plan that is to be presented formally on Sept. 16, the consultant told Sylvania City Council recently.

Natural areas are to be managed to preserve remnants of the Oak Openings ecosystem, the Lathrop House is be placed in a historic-protection zone, and the plan is to be coordinated with the city's Gateway Project, Mr. Speck said.

The meeting is to begin at 5 p.m. in the Sylvania Branch Library and is scheduled to last two hours.
