Whiteford Township supervisor dies suddenly

OTTAWA LAKE Longtime Whiteford Township Supervisor Pamela Dressel died unexpectedly Wednesday night after collapsing in her car at a Maumee restaurant.

Mrs. Dressel, 64, who won election to a third term in office in November, was pronounced dead in the emergency room at St. Luke s Hospital in Maumee, family members said.

She had gone to dinner with friends at the restaurant on Dussel Drive and had just left the restaurant when she collapsed in her car, said Larraine Dressel, a sister-in-law to Mrs. Dressel and Whiteford Township trustee.

Prior to being elected supervisor in 2000, Mrs. Dressel served as township assessor.

Her husband, Ronald Dressel, was the uncle of slain Toledo police Detective Keith Dressel. who was killed in February, 2007.

Township Clerk Bernice Heidelberg said Mrs. Dressel was known for her organizational skills and she strived to show courtesy and respect to township residents.

"She worked diligently and she was very responsible in her duties as supervisor," she said.
