Authorities investigate Michigan vacant-house fire

TEMPERANCE Monroe County and Bedford Township authorities are investigating a fire in a vacant house on South Erie Road that injured a woman.

Lori Streidl, who was found in the burning house about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, was in fair condition yesterday at Toledo Hospital.

Flames were shooting from the garage of the home at 241 East Erie when firefighters responded to the blaze, said Ron Whipple, township fire inspector. In searching inside the structure, firefighters located Ms. Streidl, who was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Mr. Whipple said an accelerant apparently was poured in several rooms to start the fire.
