Margaretta schools will put levy on Aug. ballot

5/22/2009

CASTALIA, Ohio Fresh from a failure on the May 5 ballot, the Margaretta school board has voted to seek a slightly larger levy Aug. 4.

The board agreed Wednesday night to ask voters to approve a five-year, 8.37-mill emergency operating levy that would generate about $1.4 million a year.

Earlier this month, voters rejected a 7.85-mill operating levy. Officials said the new request would bring in about $100,000 more than the failed measure, which they say is needed because the district expects to receive about $90,000 less from the state in the next budget.
