Two people were hurt, one seriously, when their motorcycle struck a deer Saturday on Maumee Western Road in Monclova Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Theodore Beroske, 37, the driver, was listed in serious condition at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Saturday night, a hospital spokesman said.

His passenger, Jan Fors, 48, also of Delta, was taken with minor injuries to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where no information about her was released.

The pair were eastbound on Maumee Western near Coder Road about 2:20 p.m. when their motorcycle struck a deer and overturned, throwing the riders onto the road.

They were not wearing helmets, troopers at the patrol's Toledo post said.

The deer was killed as a result of the crash.
