BOWLING GREEN - Huntington Bank is donating a $1.5 million building to Bowling Green State University.

The 35,000-square-foot structure is in the BGSU Research Enterprise Park on the east side of I-75 and previously housed the operations center for the former Sky Bank, which was acquired by Huntington.

University leaders said a building of this size would cost more than $7 million to construct.

BGSU will officially receive the building, 1851 North Research Drive, at 1:30 p.m. today when the bank presents the keys to the university.

Carol Cartwright, the university's president, said Huntington is a "strong community partner."

"We appreciate Huntington's commitment to BGSU. For several decades the bank has been a good partner with the university," she said. "This most recent gift demonstrates the bank's support of BGSU and higher education."

Sharon Speyer, regional president for Huntington's Northwest Ohio region, said the bank believes in supporting the communities where its employees live and work.

"Our success as a business depends upon the success of our communities, and we are proud to partner with BGSU to help strengthen programs and services," she said.
