Toledo fire crews made a forced entry into an East Toledo house and rescued its resident as a two-alarm fire raged early Wednesday at the vacant building next door, authorities said.

There were no reported injuries, according to Toledo police.

The resident at 416 Main St., whose name was not released, was brought to safety about 12:25 a.m., about which time the upstairs apartments at 416 Main and 418 Main were evacuated, police said.

The cause of the fire at a two-story building at 422 Main was ruled suspicious and was under investigation by the Toledo Fire Department, according to police.

The fire closed Main between 4th and 6th streets for several hours to allow city crews to tear down the burned building, officers said.

The Lucas County Auditor’s Web site lists Chokri Khabthani as the owner of the building, which was built in 1895.
