Dillin joins Port Clinton industrial park project
7/2/2009PORT CLINTON - The company charged with developing Toledo's Marina District is taking on a new project: helping to turn a 436-acre industrial park in Port Clinton into a showcase for alternative energy.
Dillin Corp. announced yesterday it will help develop and market the Lake Erie Business Park in Ottawa County to turn it into Ohio's first such park "fueled in significant measure by renewable energy," Chief Executive Larry Dillin said.
Located on State Rt. 2, the business park is home of Northern Manufacturing Inc., which uses a 60-panel, 13.4-kilowatt-hour solar field to provide much of its electrical demands.
The Dillin announcement said plans call for additional wind and solar energy installations in the business park to help lure new tenants.
The business park property is owned and managed primarily by Jim McKinney and Dave Fahrbach. They will continue to lead the property management, maintenance, and construction activity, while Dillin Corp. will lead the overall implementation of the development plan, sales, and leasing, as well as the creation of renewable-energy resources.
In addition to Northern Manufacturing, the park is home to Silgan Plastics, a plastic bottle maker that is one of the county's largest employers; Fenner Dunlop; ARES; the U.S. Coast Guard, and other businesses.
