Lima powwow opens at Allen County fairgrounds

LIMA Native food, arts and crafts, dancing, and singing will be featured during the Fourth of July Powwow at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima.

Set for today and tomorrow, the powwow will be presented by the Ohio Native Ancestral Association. The event opens at 10 a.m. today with Grand Entry at 1 and 6 p.m. and opens at 10 a.m. tomorrow with Grand Entry at 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the powwow will go to help Indian Centers in Ohio as well as Native Americans on reservations and other areas with items such as school supplies, books, and clothing.

Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12 and for adults 62 and older. There is no charge to park at the fairgrounds, 2750 Harding Hwy.

Host Drum is Grass Eagle, and the featured performer is Douglas Blue Feather, a Native American Music Awards winner.
