Hillsdale woman hurt after falling out of pickup
7/5/2009HILLSDALE An 18-year-old Hillsdale woman is in critical condition in a Kalamazoo hospital after she fell out of the back of a moving pickup Saturday night.
Brooke Rachelle Schmucker is in critical condition Sunday at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was airlifted to Kalamazoo after being transported to Hilsdale Community Health Center, according to the Hillsdale County Sheriff s Department, which was called to the one-vehicle accident at 10:46 p.m. Saturday.
Abagail Marie Garcia, 23, of Palmyra, Mich., was driving the pickup eastbound on Cole Road east of Sand Lake Road when Ms. Schmucker fell out. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation, according to the sheriff s office.
