Toledo walking tours are free on Thursdays

The history of Toledo's downtown will be featured during free walking tours this summer.

The lunchtime tours led by guides trained in the city's history and architecture will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays starting this week running through Sept. 17.

The tours are sponsored by the University of Toledo Urban Affairs Center and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.

The tour schedule is:

•Thursday - In the Beginning: Meet at Jefferson Avenue and Summit Street.

•July 16 - View from the Rooftop: Meet at the corner of Madison Avenue and Michigan Street.

•July 23 - Panoramic Toledo: Meet on the east side of the river at the Docks.

•July 30 - The Other Toledo: Meet at the Weber Block at Front and Main streets.

•Aug. 6 - View From Levis Square: Meet at the Kabuki Dancer sculpture.

•Aug. 13 - It's All Greek to Me: Meet at Superior and Walnut streets.

•Aug. 20 - Courthouse Square: Meet at McKinley Statue on Adams Street.

•Aug. 27 - Uptown Downtown: Meet at 14th Street and Madison Avenue.

•Sept. 3 - Living High in the Warehouse District: Meet at Washington and St. Clair streets.

•Sept. 10 - Extreme Makeover - The Casey Pomeroy House: Meet at 802 Huron St.

•Sept. 17 - World of the Feds: Meet at the federal courthouse on Spielbusch Avenue.
