Mayor urges Toledoans to use federal tax credits

7/9/2009

Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner urged residents yesterday to be mindful and take every possible advantage of President Obama's $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Mr. Finkbeiner said money in the form of tax credits and refunds is being provided to all Americans who qualify, including:

•An $8,000 refund for first-time home-buyers.

•A "Cash for Clunkers" rebate, the car allowance rebate system that pays consumers up to $4,500 in credit for trading in gas-guzzling vehicles for those that are more fuel-efficient.

•A $1,500 credit homeowners can receive under the residential energy property credit program.

The city has placed a link on its Web site, www.toledo.oh.gov, directing residents who access it to more information about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
