Toledo opens 4 poolsto public, preps 2 more

The city of Toledo opened four public pools yesterday: Detwiler, at 3901 290th St.; Pickford, at 3000 Medford Drive; Wilson, at 3253 Otto St.; and the Savage Splash Pad, at 645 Vance St. Admission at Detwiler is free for visitors under 7, $1 for 8 to 12-year-olds, and $2 for visitors over 12. There is a $1 fee for the Pickford pool.

Mayoral spokesman Megan Robson said two more pools are expected to open by the end of the week: Navarre, 1001 White St., and Roosevelt, 910 Dorr St.

The junior pools (Pickford, Wilson, Navarre, and the Savage Splash Pad) will be open Monday through Saturday. They are open to anyone 12 and younger. Detwiler and Navarre pools will be open Tuesday through Sunday.

All the pools will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Admission to all pools except for Detwiler and Pickford is free.

The pool openings were made possible by grants from the Economic Opportunity Planning Association, Toledo CityParks Fund, and Monroe Street United Methodist Church.
