BARBERTON, Ohio - A former star of the Otsego High School football team who went on to play at Michigan State was killed during a robbery, police said.

Arron Agler, 29, of Stow, Ohio, was pronounced dead about 12:30 a.m. Friday in a parking lot of Akron General Hospital where his body had been dumped after he was shot, allegedly while robbing a local drive-through store.

The cause of death is a single gunshot wound to the chest, said Gary Guenther, an investigator for the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.

Mr. Agler went to Otsego High School and was the quarterback for The Knights in 1997 and 1998 when he signed with Michigan State.

Barberton police accuse him of robbing the 619 Brew Thru Beverage store, 5th Street Southeast and Snyder Avenue, on Thursday night.

About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, a man robbed the drive-through store clerk and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, assisted by another man who was driving a red Nissan. During the robbery, the owner of the store fired shots at the robber, police said.

Dennis Williams of Tallmadge, Ohio, who police said was driving the getaway car in the robbery, was arrested about 7 a.m. Sunday while walking to a homeless shelter in Akron. Williams has prior felony drug convictions, Barberton Police Chief Michael Kallai said.

Williams was being held in the Summit County jail on a robbery charge in lieu of a $50,000 bond pending arraignment Wednesday, police said.
