Detroit Avenue repair gets under way Wednesday

7/15/2009

After more than a month of intermittent lane closings to relocate gas lines, the reconstruction of Detroit Avenue between Glendale and Arlington avenues begins today, the city transportation division said.

Beginning this morning, Detroit s southbound lanes will be closed between Glendale and Arlington, with two-way traffic maintained on the street s northbound side. This phase of construction is scheduled for completion by Sept. 1, after which the other half of the roadway will be rebuilt.

Motorists should expect significant delays and should consider using Byrne Road or the Anthony Wayne Trail instead.
