Scott offers final tours before renovations start

7/27/2009

Final tours of Scott High School will be offered before a $39 million renovation project begins on the historic building.

The public is invited for guided tours tomorrow from 10 to 11 a.m. or 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Scott Principal Treva Jeffries will lead the tours, which will start in the cafeteria.

The 1959 graduating class of Scott went through its Old West End alma mater last month for its 50-year reunion. Since then, other alumni have expressed an interest in walking the halls again, said Lisa Sobecki, the Toledo Board of Education member who heads a committee overseeing the renovation.

This is an opportunity for people in the community, our alumni, to have a last look before the renovations begin, she said.

Scott at 2400 Collingwood Blvd. will mostly retain its exterior image. Its interior will be revamped. The renovation is to be completed in 2012.
