The Andersons buys Wis. fertilizer business
8/1/2009The Andersons Inc. said Friday it has purchased the fertilizer division of Hartung Brothers Inc. of Madison, Wis.
The acquisition, which includes 145,000 tons of storage capacity at facilities in Wisconsin and Minnesota, will increase by nearly 20 percent the Maumee company s plant nutrient group production capacity, which is about 2 million tons.
The deal expands the local firm s footprint beyond the Eastern Corn Belt and gives the company an expanded customer base.
