$1M bonds set for 2 men accused in area murder

8/6/2009

Two men charged in the shooting death of a Springfield Township man are being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $1 million bonds after pleading not guilty to murder charges.

Scott Schoch, 28, of Toledo was arraigned yesterday in Sylvania Municipal Court via video on a charge of murder. James Ellis III, 29, of North Carolina was charged with complicity to commit murder and a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Both face life in prison if convicted.

Colin Fisher, 23, died Tuesday of a gunshot wound in the abdomen, according to the Lucas County coroner. Investigators believe he had been drinking with the two suspects in bars.

Mr. Fisher apparently sought help at a home in the 7100 block of Dorr Street just before 6 a.m. There, the homeowner attempted to help him before medical personnel arrived.

Sylvania Municipal Court Judge M. Scott Ramey set an Aug. 7 court date for Mr. Ellis and an Aug. 12 court date for Mr. Schoch.
